I … just … can’t

    1. In a secular country this is the way it is.

In a religious fascist country we are increasingly going to see what that would look like.

Christians are very well known for always minding their business and never trying to force their religious beliefs on other people.

    3. “you’re free to do it”

Proceeds to ban abortions in 19 states based on their religious dogma, risking the lives and wellbeing of millions of women.

    4. They left out the part where they tie the secular person to a fence and beat them to death for wanting to do X.

One of the worst strawman scenarios I’ve ever seen. It totally misrepresents both the Christian and the atheist. Christians are not content to simply let others live how they want. And atheists don’t think Christians are intolerant because they have different beliefs. In reality, Christians are compelled to force others to live by their “beliefs. They do not have a “live and let live” philosophy. They explicitly want to use the power of government to impose their specific beliefs and worldview on the whole of society. And that’s what atheists are responding to when they rightly call them intolerant, controlling, authoritarian bigots.

    6. So it’s fine if someone is gay or trans? The good Christians will sit there quietly minding their own business? Phew, what a relief.

    7. This is how it should be. That’s the correct response. But it’s not true. Christians want to believe it (I’m Christian, this is what I believe but I speak to Christians who believe the last one only in this dialogue. They don’t realize they don’t say the rest).

    8. lol, if only that was remotely based in reality. They can feel free to look at the hundreds of attacks in the name of their faith against non-Christians, LGBTQ, and other faiths just over the past few years if and then get back to us. I get tired of these fucks treating everyone else like crap, then pretending they’re good people and refusing to own their own actions.

    9. Speaking as a Christian:

      This narrative is bullshit.

      There’s a reason I haven’t been to church in a long while…

    10. Ah, christians. They don’t have conversations, they have pre-scripted interactions. And when you don’t stick to their script, they’re lost.

So, when dealing with christians, *never* follow their script. Just be aware, when one script fails, they’ll always try switching to another, so you need to sabotage them at every turn.

    11. Secular Person “I am suffering can I end my own life in dignity?”
Christian: “No, because I think that is wrong”

Secular Person: “I got raped can I get an abortion?”
Christian: “No, because I think that is wrong”

Secular Person: “Can I marry who I love if they are of the same sex?”
Christian: “No, because I think that is wrong”

Secular Person: “You’re a bit of a controlling asshole”
Christian: “Help! Help! I am being oppressed!”

    12. You missed the part where the Christian wants state funds to proselytize about how X is wrong and to teach children about how X is wrong in school. Also, the part where the Christian wants to make X a crime, in many cases.

I’ve yet to see a conservative Christian, which is most of them judging by how they’ve allowed their religion to be turned over to trump where they worship him instead of that other woke guy on the cross.

Ever not attempt to force their agenda on you. Just look at what that are attempting to do with forcing prayer back into the classroom, and how they’ve worked to destroy a woman’s robe to make her own medical decisions

    14. Sufficient-Step6954 on

Let’s just skip the part where Christians run for office and get all the other Christians to vote for them and then propose laws against X and then get Christians to vote for (and pass) the laws that make X a crime….

This is definitely NOT how this plays out. Not in everyday life, not in wider society. Also are we just going to ignore the most obvious fact that Christian nationalists are taking over one of the most powerful countries in the world right now and literally forcing all their shit on others to an alarming degree??

    16. “You’re free to do whatever you want to do” is a well known trope of all Christian beliefs as evidenced by…everything around us.

      FFS.

    17. This conversation rarely happens… It does for sure. But the overwhelming response is that you can’t do that, and I’m going to do everything in my power to prevent it

    18. A few years back I took in a Notre Dame Football game in South Bend.

The next day I wanted to buy some beer at the local Target but they weren’t allowed to sell it to me because it was a Sunday.

Land Of The Free my ass.

      > Christian: You’re free to do it.

Second line of this deep fried nonsense and they’re already knee-deep in delusion.

Secular person:*minding there own business eating cheetos in there underwear*
Religious person: *knocks on door* have you heard Bout Jesus

      Secular person: R@pe is bad
      Religious person: *crickets*

Secular person: I can’t afford to care for a child
Religious person: slut should have thought about that before it opened its legs.
