    1. Cut Sinclair and Nexstar’s major sports access. Hell, cut off every major event on ABC or any other Disney-owned product. Plenty of dummies might be fine with complicity in government censorship and propaganda but will be incredibly pissed off if the can’t get their Sunday football. They might blame Disney/the liberal media blah blah blah, but they’ll aim their immediate rage at the place no longer showing their favorite shit.

    2. These people did not suspend Kimmel. They threatened the network and the network caved and suspended him.

    3. Nobody lost money. Disney lost some market cap which is a paper loss. Nexstar and Sinclair are entirely different companies

    4. Really hate it when they call Nexstar and Sinclair “local tv”. They are enormous conglomerate companies that single handedly are responsible for what millions of americans see on their televisions.

    5. From what I understand, ABC has a lot of power here because they could pull NFL broadcasting to fight back.

Both of those companies have been a major point of contention for a long time. They don’t just try to control something like this, it’s well known they have almost every news program they show read the same scripts with differences for their region. If George Soros actually had the influence they have maga would have a meltdown.

    7. How hilarious even though I cancelled my Hulu/Disney/ESPN I just received an email in the last hour they are raising their subscription price next month.

    8. Boycott the local businesses that buy advertisement time on the channels.

Call ‘em and let them know that’s what you’re going to do.

    9. Sinclair and Nexstar taking one more step to make broadcast televison irrelevant. It’s their foot. Let them shoot it.

    10. Sinclair should never have been allowed to become as big as it is; it’s been run by an absolute dipshit for decades.

At some point America (and the UK for that matter) is going to have to take steps against the ossified ultra right wing media hegemony. Assuming it lasts long enough.

Sinclair wants to do a merger with someone else that requires the FCC approval because it goes over the % a single company is allowed to own of the local TV stations. The deal they want absolutely shatters the % allowed. That’s why Sinclair is kissing the FCC and Trump’s butts. According to John Oliver, the FCC can’t actually pull licenses. BUT they can refuse to allow or slow down mergers and sales of stations. That’s a big problem for mega-companies that want to take over the world. The FCC doesn’t have any power over cable companies, just broadcast companies.

Disney just likes to ride the fence and try to play both sides of the divide. Corporate greed is their #1 thing. Disney is worried because The Mandalorian and Grogu is coming out in the Spring, and the parent company tried to flush it down the toilet. WoTC did that to Hasbro over the DnD movie several years ago. Disney put a lot of money into the movie. They’re scared it’s going to fail. I, for one, will remember Disney being AHs and am seriously considering skipping The Mandalorian movie despite it not coming out until I think April 2026.

    12. So instead of just pressing play on the syndicated stuff, they’ve committed themselves to an indefinite ongoing cost to produce a program in order to tongue trump’s crack. An act that will be forgotten by the man himself 3 seconds after they capitulated. That’s certainly **a** business decision.

    13. Disney should yank every bit of content they own from them. Those jerk off companies would go bankrupt. They are an antiquated relic on borrowed time anyways
