    1. I’m getting drunk in front of it every year before christmas – lots of Glühwein is going on there.

    2. I can’t imagine how they managed to build such a massive structure in the Middle Ages, no machinery, no modern tools, just with their hands.

How long did it take to build?
It must be so disheartening building this and thinking “this isn’t even gonna be finished by the time my grandkids are old”.

    4. I’m amazed this was built without any power tools only hammer , chisel , saw , measuring rods . If we ask construction workers to use the same tools like they did in 1248 can they build this today ?

I love how churches spend all their money on building massive churches. So glad they don’t help anyone with the money instead

    6. This thing is insane. Cologne Cathedral took more than 600 years to finish and when it was finally done in 1880 it was actually the tallest building in the world. They literally started it in the Middle Ages, abandoned it, then picked it back up in the 19th century like “yeah let’s keep going.” Imagine your construction project lasting so long that entire empires rise and fall before the scaffolding comes down.

    7. I was lucky enough to see this back in 2004. To this day, it is by far the most incredible structure I’ve ever seen.
