    1. Because nothing says, “I was coming home from work and thought, why not,” like a metro line ring.

    2. Not sure if the big numbers are the cost but if so they seem to be in the $100 range. Not bad…

    3. I wonder if it’s to stop harassment while on the subway.

      Years and years ago my family informally adopted an older lady. She had never married, and never wanted to. I sat with her after school, ate ritz crackers and watched the OJ trial (v long time ago, sheesh). I think she was in her late 80s then. She had a silver ring on her marryin finger with a small solitaire on it, and one time I asked her about it, because in my unformed mind I had this story that she stayed single and kept the ring from The One That Got Away.

      She said it didn’t mean anything, she wore it to keep people from bugging her about being single. She also had a suspicious number of photographs on her wall of her and her roommates from the 1920s-1970s.
