I just discovered Tipy one handed keyboards cost over $1k so I can understand why someone would make one from scratch instead.

This reminds me of the [AI-generated optimal keyboard layout video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOaPb9wrgDY). Optimum keyboard layouts differ with how many fingers you use to type and even what kind of content you are typing. He makes a comment about using this method to design a keyboard for people with disabilities.

OK not only is that such a cool thing to make and a wonderful thing to do…
…but the editing in this video is *insanely* good

I actually learned to type with one hand and now have an odd way of typing with 2. No special keyboard needed.

The podcast 99% Invisible had a great show recently on this exact problem of adapting designs from a 2-handed world into a 1-handed one, specifically with keyboards as a main topic.

I can’t help but think this would be better solved some other way. Whilst the fan is a decent idea, having such smaller keys is going to be a nightmare. Something that has say 10 buttons but some autocorrect built in would be better, or a mouse with buttons that switch the case e.g. like an analogue stick – hold thumb up you get a-e – hold thumb down it switches to f-j etc. (But with more clever thought).
They say the layout is the same so there’s not much to relearn – but there definitely will be, no matter what.
Something like a stenotype

Wonder if a right handed version (for lefties) will be made

tbh tho, I wonder whether it would have been better to just make a mouse that could be used with a foot

This is cool. But I’m kinda happy using one split of corne v2. I’m finally getting used to using all numbers on one split and arrow keys in the same layer. I have delete and enter on the same layer in the thumb cluster. For gaming its perfect, for entering numbers its decent (wish I had comma and period for data entry)

bro the thinkpad trackpoint does exactly what this product does and worst part he is using it on a thinkpad, but the design is still very nice and good for non thinkpad users(i use a thinkpad)

Looks cool but also super uncomfortable. The level of editing though is crazy and makes me feel the whole backstory behind it is made up for clicks.

“regular usb-c cable from Amazon with a magnetic end”. Not bashing it, but it’s not anything this guy did.

He could have slapped the word gamer and sold it for over 200 bucks.
And it still would feel like you’re ripping him off.

Omg the cut with him soldering all of those connectors. An expert at work.

Reinvented the FrogPad one-handed keyboard I used to love? But open source from the beginning? Hmm, interesting!
