The claim that he committed suicide is somewhat disputed. He died from cyanide poisoning, and a half-eaten apple was found beside his body. Without actually testing the apple for cyanide, the coroner ruled that Turing had intentionally laced it with cyanide. However, the reason he had cyanide laying around to begin with was to use in electroplating spoons, and some think that the poisoning was accidental.

He is also considered to be the father of computer science

    2. And now the UK government is working on bringing back chemical castration as a forced punishment for “sexual deviants”, just like they did to him.

Edit: Turning off reply notifications, because I’m a little tired of repeating myself here.

    3. imagine being one of the main reasons you win a world war and the world is then mean to you about your lifestyle choices.

The movie of this is wild, whats it called? With benedict cumberbatch?

    5. Every time I see his face, or hear his name, I’m instantly sad at the ugliness of mankind, he was hero, and should have been treated as such.

And anybody that uses a modern computer or smart phone and is against gays is literally using an invention made by a gay dude. So if you hate gays, thank one for your phone!

They celebrated him for his help in killing other men overseas, then sentenced him to chemical castration for loving another man at home

Britain owes this man an enormous debt.

The article heavily implies that he committed suicide solely because he was victimized for being gay. Not only do we not have to way to know if that was the reason (he didn’t leave behind a note or anything), it’s NOT EVEN CONFIRMED HE COMMITTED SUICIDE!

God this site is full of people posting misleading headlines and manipulation of information to support a (specific) narrative.

    9. Highly recommend visiting Bletchley park in UK if you get a chance, so freaking cool with working examples of turings machines and other ww2 intelligence exhibits

    11. Alan Turing, while famous for his contributions to cracking the Enigma code, did not initially crack it.

Polish cryptologists Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Różycki, and Henryk Zygalski at the Cipher Bureau in Poland first broke the Enigma code before World War II.

They developed methods like the “bomba” and Zygalski sheets, which were later used and advanced by Turing and his team at Bletchley Park. Turing’s contributions were crucial for improving the “bomba” and adapting the Polish methods to the more complex Enigma machines used later in the war.

    12. I could care less about a person’s sexual preference, I care more if they are good, kind people.

    13. Zach Effron is a dead ringer. They should have him play him in a movie. They could be twins…
