Doesn’t Jesus forgive all sins as long as you ask? Why not indulge your darkest desires then just ask for forgiveness?

    2. God only “exists” because people with intelligent, mature ethics figured out a way to communicate applied ethics masquerading as ethos and morality – to idiots.

If a god is the only thing keeping you from doing horrible things, then you are probably a horrible person.

Ironically, more people have died and will continue to die from the idea of gods than any other idea ever to have been communicated by mankind.

No wonder so many people feel lost without a sky-daddy.

    3. Ah, the ole “You could be fuking dogs & babies right now. The bible tells me not to though. What stops you from fuking dogs & babies & setting your MIL on fire if you don’t believe in any gods?” Asking the question is how you weed out your familial sociopaths/child molesters.

    4. “If you don’t have an all-seeing, all-judging sky daddy that will send you to hell for doing despicable and horrible things like being gay. How do you resist the urge to murder people in cold blood and hang their corpses like decorations? Checkmate Atheists 😎”

    5. Morality came before religion. Early humans who were more cooperative with other humans (read: moral), we’re more likely to survive. So, morality is actually a product of evolution.

Watch their heads explode with that one.

    6. Unfortunately there are a lot of Christians who lack the wrinkles in their brain and think like this.

They can’t grasp that we are our own moral compass.

    7. Some people actually have an inner sense of right and wrong, instead of just being afraid that sky daddy will punish them! Its scary to see that religious people have no real moral compass except fear.

    8. Is this dude not answering his own question here? Like, if there’s no god, how am I literally not just murdering people on the street right now instead of drinking wine and posing obvious hypotheticals on Reddit?

    9. Having a god doesn’t seem to stop religious people from committing sins on a daily basis like molesting children (Catholic Church), raping women, committing murder, etc. so the argument is faulty from the get go.

    10. “There’s no source of objective morality to tell you that […] fucking kids […] is wrong. So why don’t you do it?”

Because I’m not a Catholic Priest.

    11. most super religious people ive known were evil at their cores, and the only thing stopping them was a book telling them it was wrong.

if you need god to tell you right from wrong, then youre a piece of shit.

I always like to ask them, “so if your law-giver spoke to you and said it’s ok to do those things, will you?”

I don’t have an issue with people having faith and praying or turning to a god when life is difficult. I have no problem with people being comforted by the idea that their dead loved ones are in heaven. I don’t even have a problem with people using some of the things in the Bible as a guide to their own morality (like the love thy neighbour stuff, help those who are struggling, etc.) But the kind of blind and absolute “faith” demonstrated in this screenshot is disturbing. It indicates that this person never asks themselves difficult questions, instead they just fall back on what the Bible or God supposedly says.

It is not a bad thing to consider the possibility that there might be no higher power who created us with any particular purpose. It is not a bad thing to consider that there may be no higher order of justice ensuring evil people are punished after death and innocent people are rewarded. In fact, for many people these considerations help them solidify their moral values. You realize that it comes down to an instinct within you to not cause harm, to not be able to tolerate another human being suffering at your hands. Life may have no inherent meaning, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to go out there and make it harder for other people just for kicks.

There is no moral lawgiver. Morality doesn’t belong to religion, it is an evolved trait that is necessary for humans to exist in complex societies. Basic morality has even been observed in some mammals, particularly primates, who do obviously not believe in any human religion.

    15. Religious dude: “why don’t you just indulge in your darkest desires?”

      Atheist: “you have dark desires?”

People have done and do the most heinous things in the name of religion. Morality is NOT tied to the idea of a God. Why on earth would anyone think you can’t be a kind, moral, decent loving person without religion?

    17. the fact that so many theists are seconds away from murder, rape, genocide and war entirely because they are convinced a magical space daddy exists shows how psychotic and primitive these people are and how early monotheism may have come about just as a form to stop us from offing ourselves.

Atheists act rational even knowing nothing is out there watching them.

    18. The source of moral can’t be a god either, because there are over 200 different gods being worshipped on earth and they all have different laws, too.

If you say you are religious, but you only believe in 1 out of the 200 gods out there, well, I only believe one less god than you.

    19. Atheist don’t partake in such above desires because they do not have such desires. does this guy have those desires???

    20. I kill and assault as many people as I want… which is absolutely zero. I have morals and feelings and don’t like to hurt people.

    21. Idk about you, but I engage in my deepest darkest desires. It’s just that my darkest desires end up being mostly sugar related.
