So I didn’t know that you have to be allergic to poison ivy for it to cause a rash until I came to America. And it’s hereditary ive been told? I’m curious to know if I’ll get a rash when I grew up in a different country that doesn’t have poison ivy. Idk how that shit works but if anyone has any idea, let me know.

LPT- wash with Dawn dish soap immediately after suspected exposure of Poison Ivy. Its an oil on the plant that causes the reaction. That is why it spreads when you rub or scratch at it. Dawn cuts the oil and removes it from your skin, preventing the irritation.
I used to work at a car repair shop. Dawn worked MUCH better at removing oil than store brands.

If it’s poison parsnip or giant hogweed, cover the area so light can’t reach it. Those plants cause photosensitivity.

I got it on my hands, arms and legs a few months back. It must have been a lot because I used dawn right after exposure and I still had it all over. Anyway, only something I would wish on my worst enemies.
Pro tip: if you get it and are itching really bad stick the exposed area under a faucet of hot water, especially one that “showers” (not sure what the right word is for that). It does a great job of relieving the itch without spreading it

This is why I don’t walk into non-cleared wooded areas, if I so much as walk by poison 20ft away I’m a goner.
I’m severely allergic to it, if I see the rash start to form I have to go to the doctor’s office and get a steroid shot.
