    1. I loved that Steve Jobs was asked if the apple logo was inspired by Turing and he said “god I wish it were”

They chemically castrated him. That’s not oppression, that’s reckless brutality.

A war hero who’s praises where sung publicly while his country forced him to chemically castrate himself because of how he was born. Oppression is too soft a word here.

    4. Dude is estimated to have shortened the war by years and saved millions of lives with his work. Imagine saving 10-15 million lives and then being arrested for being gay.

“ChatGTP, who is Alan Turing and are you actually a human who types really fast?”

I’m surprised that the government didn’t show him some leniency — discreetly, of course — in recognition of his valuable service.

His groundbreaking work had to be keep strictly secret, but someone from the War Office could have intervened when he was arrested (for what many considered an awful crime) and said “Hey, cut this guy some slack.”

#Which is SAD, since he has done great things, but actually didn’t crack enigma (Polish mathematicians did).

In Enigma context, he had designed computing device that was be used to implement the hack.

    8. one of the biggest heroes ever bullied by his own government to the point he killed himself, always makes me so angry and sad when i think about it

    9. Not to denigrate Turing’s contributions to computation theory & code breaking but he was one member of an extensive team of code breakers who all deserve credit for this fine achievement.

    10. We treated him so bad despite being a bloody hero, i dont think the lives he saved cant be counted, ending the war earlier because we had his work was such a massive achievement and then we drove him to suicide.

    11. The British government chemically castrated him for being gay. That’s how Britain treated its heroes.
