I posted a photo from 1931 of my grandmother as a baby in my great-grandmothers arms recently. I mentioned in that post how different my great-grandmother was for her time; a tough spitfire.
Here she is (in the middle) in work pants, hair back and messy, smoking a cigarette with zero posture. Her sister to the left of her was a force too. And there’s my sweet grandmother to the right, about 15-16yrs old, smiling ever so happily.
My great-grandfather (Kenyon Wilton Sauls) was the driver of the ferry that crossed one car at a time to the other side (LONGGG before any bridges). I’ve owned these photos for some years and today was the first day I realized they were on the ferry.
So thankful to have a place to share these gems. They mean so much to me.
