Context: in 1773, in the buildup to the American Revolutionary War, Benjamin Franklin wrote a satirical article in the style of a royal proclamation, which said that England and all its colonies belonged to Prussia. This was due to its Anglo Saxon heritage that links to the Germanic people groups. This satirical piece was meant to critique British control over the American colonies. I just love how much of a troll Ben Franklin can be.

To this day, Prussia still graciously allows the British to have limited self-governance.
