Guiteau actually stated in the trial

      > The doctors killed Garfield, I just shot him.

Didnt alexander graham bell have a metal detector to find the bullet, but it didnt work because the hospital bed had springs in it?

    3. Usually the law makes you responsible for murder even if the patient would have survived the wound absent malpractice. This is the only case I’ve ever heard of where the malpractice is so bad it makes me question the idea. The assassin was still executed.

    4. Some thought Arthur had something to do with the assassination, but he didn’t. I believe Guiteau said: “I am a Stalwart of the Stalwarts. … Arthur is president now!” after shooting Garfield.

It’s also funny cause the Stalwarts were all pro-patronage, but as president Arthur would change his mind and sign the Pendleton Civil Service Act, a meritocratic bill. Arthur was also an absolute driplord. Too bad he also restricted immigration and specifically signed the Chinese Exclusion Act.
